Stupid scientists. Shortpacked!: First things first.
The rest of the Cheetor/Tankor Robot Heroes wave is yet more Generation 1 stuff. The second pack gives us a Bombshell, renamed "Hardshell" for trademark reasons, which completes the trio of non-Deluxe Insecticons. They definitely didn't save the best for last. His colors aren't as vibrant or as interesting, nor is his pose as dynamic. He kinda stands there, arms reaching limply, looking like he needs more paint to match his fellow Insecticons. He's also the least articulated, with no clearance for neck articulation.
Bombshell was one of two of my first Transformers toys ever (the other being Twin Twist). I'm kinda sad that he's not up to the usual Insecticon Robot Heroes par, but not by too much. I'm oddly not attached to either of my first Transformers. Though when my brother and I played Transformers, my Bombshell was highly instrumental in brainwashing all his toys into being on my side, using his infamous cerebro-shells. Oh, memories.
"Hardshell" comes packaged versus Perceptor. Perceptor's an okay Robot Hero, but his pose overwhelms any other feelings I get from him. He is pointing and laughing at you. That is what he is doing. There is no other thing he could possibly be doing. He's pointing and laughing at you, and Mike will run up and kick you in the stomach. Man, what a jerk. I mean, we knew he was a scientist, but this just goes too far!
I've photographed him with the rest of the main Autobot 1986 movie cast, since Blaster and him alone aren't really enough to evoke Perceptor's resistance team from the Marvel Comics. Though, hey, another dude to add to my Moon Duel diorama!

when I was a kid beast wars was out... For some reason, silverbolt became the leader of a team of transformers and digimon against my brothers team of legos and stuffed animals. And he had no imagination, the legos would never build anything. Each brick was a soldier. I was outnumberd 50 to 1.

Heh. Bombshell was my second Transformer, and the first I bought for myself (I got Bluestreak for Christmas). I came up with fan modes pretty quickly.
Wow, I never realized how dark the game section was. Or how many times faz has been fired.
Now that brought a smile to my face, ahh faz, seeya :)
Awesome. Twin Twist was my first TransFormer, too.

Same here. I remember having he choice between him and Top Spin and I chose Twin Twist just because I knew what the hell he was sorta supposed to be. (Hey, I was nine!)
I find myself hoping the Jumpstarters get a new Universe toy.
somewhere out there, fans are touching themselves to the last panel of this comic.
*looks up with a guilty start*

Hi Mr. Willis!
Did your replacement Skywarp arrive yet? I picked up a Universe/Classics Sideswipe the other day, and while I totally love that slightly metallic red plastic he's made of, mine had two left fists. I e-mailed Hasbro and they said that I'm going to have to send them the whole toy instead of selling me just a fist, I'm hoping that after I send in this sideswipe, they don't send the replacement to Cameroon instead of Canada!
Twin Twist was also one of my very first TFs, I'm not sure if I got him or Prowl first... Twin Twist was a replacement supplied by Towers when we tried to return a "super go-bot" that I had gotten for my birthday that broke the very next day, becuase (as much as I worship Bandai) go-bots were some of the crappiest toys ever made. I've still got most of a few others, but we cashed this one in for a TF. There were no "super gobots" available to switch for, becuase they were "really popular" so instead they gave us a TF. Yay drilltank!
Hopefully your Skywarp will arrive soon! I suspect that waiting for him is beginning to irk you. That you are irked! And that simply will not do.

My replacement Skywarp has been idling in Philadelphia(!!!!) for the past few days. I missed the window to call USPS today (Fed Ex passed it off to them), so I'll have to yell at somebody tomorrow.

Sock it to them!! Though at the same time, it's not USPS' fault (unless FedEx was planning to pass it off to them all this time, and it was USPS that was dragging their heels of course) so to whom will you direct the righteous fury of your tirade?

Hey Walky, I used "David Willis - Internet Celebrity" as an example for my Futures project today, hope you don't mind.
(The audience was much amused by the image used; I settled on you threatening to kill Cat Piss Woman rather than tub!Shark.)
And if they knew what they could have seen, I'm sure they'd be relieved.
They were delighted by the example you provided. I'm shooting documentation pics tomorrow I think-- you'll see why. |
