Axl Rose is still a nice guy…

28 08 2008

So, our favorite Rock n’ Roll recluse has recently come out of hiding and has promised us fans that the album that’s been in the works for almost 15 years, Chinese Democracy, is just around the corner. While most of us normal people stopped believing long ago, some still care about Axl and his new rendition of Guns n’ Roses. There are several websites dedicated to the band and many blogs written about him daily. One such blog even went out and “leaked” a few tracks that have for the most part been available for years and was taken to jail for doing so.

If this video, or this one, or this one, or even this one wasn’t enough to make you realize Axl Rose is the biggest douchebag of all-time, this latest incident tops the cake. Seriously, this makes Metallica vs. Napster look minuscule. Still, everyone has fans….even Jose Canseco. So, if you have been dying to get your hands on an official Axl Rose autograph, check out this amazing eBay auction.

Axl is definately giving John Edward a run for his money in the Biggest Douche in the Universe contest. It’s too bad because GNR was and still is one of the greatest bands of all time. They are NOT a hairband. And Axl ruined it all. If the original lineup got back together for a tour they would STILL pack stadiums.

Also, in the last video, fans of Dr. Tobias Funke might recognize Slash as a “nevernude”. It’s a terrible affliction.

I’m not quite sure why it takes the cake. This is a guy dedicated his whole life, for more than a decade, to his work. In the studio. He’s basically been a recluse because he’s devoted so much time and energy to Chinese Democracy, and he’s weathered more ridicule than many for having wanted to produce a stellar album. Can you imagine how difficult it would be, as a creator, to feel like you had to top Appetite for Destruction and Use Your Illusion I & II? Have you listened to those CDs? Because they remain among the greatest examples of rock ever produced. If asked to name the greatest rock album of all time, I certainly think Appetite for Destruction would rank way up there. All he’s interested in doing is bettering what he’s done before, and he’s worked on it for more than a decade, and then he wakes up one morning and finds out that some random dude with a blog posted his unfinished work without his permission? This wasn’t Axl saying, “Hey, here’s what I’ve been working on. It’s not finished, but I think it’s pretty good and wanted to know what you thought.” This was some random douchebag with no connection to Axl, Guns n’ Roses, or his record company posting unauthorized reproductions of his last decade’s work.

It wasn’t just him, though. Unless he personally stole it from Axl and his people, all he was doing is making more readily available something that anyone who uses Bit Torrent can easily access.

This “work” has been on the Internet for years in different versions. If and when the album does get released, we will have at least heard 6 of the songs or more. Also, no matter how great it is….it won’t top AfD.

I just think this was excessive.

I’d actually be really interested in hearing this album if it ever really does come out! (lol) Hey, ‘GnR’ was an awesome band, not nearly as great as AEROSMITH, but i love their music. i’m curious to see if this album is any good without all the old band members. That autograph on a can is too cool though, i’d definetly want that, i just don’t think i would pay more than 50 bucks for it! AND “YES” Jose Canseco does have many fans, i happen to be the BIGGEST ONE OF THEM ALL!!!! Hey u gotta admit, Jose’s better than Axl!!
Hope all is well Mario, write me when u get a chance, i got so much going on in my monster Canseco collection, “busy busy!” Oh and by the way, ……………
“WAX HEAVEN RULES!!!!”"”

The band that wrote the theme song to Armaggedon is NOT better than GNR. You take that back, Mark.

@Mark (et al., in fact): I actually blogged about this today. Which I mention as someone who’s heard a great deal of the CD.

But to spoil it, Mark, what I’ve heard of it is flat out amazing.

Will, how did you get to hear songs from the CD? Did you download it illegally?

Will Entrekin (17:02:18) :

No, I didn’t download the songs; I heard them through a friend. I’m not sure how he got them.

Mario A. (22:31:35) :

My guess is he downloaded them just like everyone else.
It’s not a crime and one thing is for sure….it’s not going away.

I don’t think it was worth going to jail for…

I found a bunch of new stuff alleged to be Chinese Democracy about a year ago. It sounded like in studio stuff, sort of raw and unfinished. Buckethead’s solo was included in it, so it’s probably 5 or 6 years old now. I don’t believe these songs were anything close to final cuts.
