Palacios Remondo Rioja Crianza La Montessa 2005
Winemaker Alvaro Palacios has become a legend in the Priorat area making much sought after high point scoring wines. He has now returned to his family estate in Rioja to inject a new lease of life. This Tempranillo has been aged for one year in new oak, resulting in a wonderful silky smooth, rich wine, with plenty of concentrated fruit and spice.

Pouilly Vinzelles 2006 Bret Bros
The Bret Bros are situated in southern Burgundy and specialize in biodynamic white Burgundies, particularly from the Pouilly Vinzelles village. We visited them during our charity bike ride; they spent time showing us around the wines and winery despite being intensely busy in the vineyard. These wines are a pure expression of Chardonnay with a hint of oak; they have a luxuriant richness balanced by a crisp spine of acidity. The 2006 vintage is forward drinking but will continue to develop; decant it to get the most out of it.
