National Tie One On Day
Today is National Tie One On Day when EllynAnne, author of The Apron Book encourages us "to pause in the
preparation of our own meal, wrap a loaf of bread in an apron, tuck a
prayer or note of encouragement in the pocket, and tie one on...an
apron, of course!, and deliver the wrapped bundle to someone in need of
spiritual or physical sustenance".
This morning I baked a lemon cake, and then I dug through my vintage apron collection and picked out this lavender and white gingham half apron which has a butterfly embroidered on it and is trimmed with rick rack, to give to my good friend who has two little girls and who is pregnant with a baby boy.

I dug through my collection of aprons, and chose a red gingham for my Tie One On Day wrapping! I should have baked your lemon cake, though - my efforts weren't quite as sucessful as yours.

I had kno idea there was such a day. How wonderful! Night before Thanksgiving I was in charge of the Pies so when i chose the apron to wear that night I thought about clever they are and how pretty they make me feel. And 10 pies and a bottle of wine later I was glad I tied one on.
