BLAH! BLAH! BLAH! All about ME! ME! ME!

Hi,

Welcome to my home page, blah blah blah. Sheesh, I'll bet after you've seen ten, or twenty homepages, this type of stuff doesn't even get read. So, why do I bother to write anything here at all? Don't know really. Its probably because the Inter-national Homepage Guidelines requires it: Section 31, subparagraph A of the licensing agreement specifically requires a banal introduction of who your are, what this page is about, and why you deserve to exist on this planet. Well,...sorry. I think that for your sake, I'll write a bunch of nonsense instead, so that when you decide to skip all of this hoohah, you won't miss a thing.

Well you've gotten this far, so I might as well tell you about this musician/teacher. My name is Sy Winnie, and I have been collecting Spider-man items since 1967. Now you're probably wondering why doesn't this guy collect "Winnie the Pooh"? After all his last name is "Winnie"...right!?!? The answer being I would rather my fictional characters wear pants. Plain and simple.

My age?????
I guess you could say I have waited 40 years literally for a decent Spider-Man movie to be made, since the release date of the film and my birthdate were one and the same. It was the only pleasant thing about heading over the hill.

So my site www.spidermancollector.com was initiated after seeing Ed Kelly's collection of Batman memorabilia on the web. I then wondered if there were such sites for other characters, and did a search for a certain webhead. No such Spidey site was found, ... so my curiousity on how to build a website along with learning my new digital camera gave birth to this ever growing gallery. This site turned into a perfect excuse for a little break from reality, and to capture a lost bit of childhood memories for myself, and hopefully others.

I had an interest in Spider-Man starting in 1967 around the age of 5 when the cartoon started to air on ABC. That show led me to the local pharmacy in Oak Harbor, Ohio called "Finke's Pharmacy" where they had a great selection of comics especially the Marvel line. I had conned my baby sitter at the time to forget lunch, and use the money to purchase some Spidey comics. That in turn got the sitter and myself into a heap of trouble with my parents. It remains a very vivid memory, and well worth the punishment to have my Amazing Spider-Man #53.

Unfortunately for today's kids that pharmacy no longer exists, and no one carries any comics in that town since it closed its doors. The first Marvel toy that got me hooked without a doubt was the Captain Action action figure I received the Christmas of 66 which was my first exposure to Captain America, and Sgt. Fury.

The following Christmas my parents purchased the Spider-Man costume for my Captain Action and I was off and running. So after 45 years, and 8 of them spent uploading a handful of photos a week to www.spidermancollector.com, I hope others capture a moment of childhood by reconnecting with a toy they once had. Enjoy!
