A few words about myself:
I work for an airline's charter office in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Like most kids my age, my childhood was completely enriched by the Star Wars phenomenon. Later, when my son was about 4 years old, I introduced him to Star Wars. I began buying him all the current and some of the vintage toys---and this got me interested in the whole Star Wars universe all over again! I started buying myself vintage items, and have now been collecting for 7 years.

About my collections:
Mostly vintage items from the first three movies. I started collecting the specific items I had as a child, then continued with the items I WISHED I had when I was a child. Have recently branched off into peripheral items like books, pins, cards and other odds & ends. Have most of the action figures from ANH & ESB. which are my two favorite movies in the series. Most items acquired on Ebay or from antique stores.

About my interests:
Vintage Star Wars, 70's & 80's TV shows on DVD, airplanes & airlines.

CQ: How many items do you have? How did you get started?

I currently have approximately 250 items if I include all Kenner toys, action figures, buttons, books, model kits, etc. I began collecting shortly after introducing my son to the original trilogy. It really sparked my interest in Star Wars all over again. I began with a few vintage action figures and ships---items I had when I was a child and dearly missed.

CQ: When did you first view Star Wars? What drew you in?

I was five years old when my father took me to the old downtown theatre here in Calgary to see the movie. His coworkers were all talking about it at work—how amazing the movie was and all the special effects, etc. Even from that young age, my memory of watching the movie is vivid. To a child in the 1970’s, keeping in mind all the movies we had seen up to that date, Star Wars was unbelievably mind-blowing.

CQ: Which is/are the most prized items in your collection?

My Roman Ceramics R2-D2 coin bank, made in 1977, is probably my most prized item. They can be hard to find and usually command quite a high price on Ebay, for example.

Aside from its rarity, I find it to be a very visually stunning piece of 1970’s Star Wars memorabilia.
