about me A nonprofit database manager with a bit of a wild side...everyone is always shocked when I say that I collect Barbie dolls...until they see the unique look each one has...very much like myself. After all - a little pink hair never hurt anyone.
about my collections A few years ago I set eyes upon a Barbie doll in a fantastic gold gown that reminded me quite a bit of Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra...and I was hooked. After a bit of research I discovered that Barbie has produced several "World Culture" series of dolls that feature facial structures similar to the ethnicity represented. I thought this was a fantastic step outside the realm of identical plastic faces that wear identical outfits... Every now and again I'll purchase an extra doll as an investment - but in general these are just for my own enjoyment, not financial gain. As such, each one is removed from it's box and stored in the glass hutch in my study. It makes for quite a collection when they're all together like that...although things are getting a bit tight now...
my interests I love to travel and experience new cultures. Both international and here at home I enjoy finding new adventures and activities. I love researching the history and myths of other countries. Additionally, I'm an avid reader that has somehow found herself to be a "safe house" for homeless books...but that's a whole different collection...
