From the center of the canvas emerges a woman and her hair becoming the black and white wings of a butterfly ontop of a bright red background. Within the wings are imagery of a bird, a fish, the Empire State Building, a skull, apples and the Chrystler Building. The use of black and white, and opposing symbolisms as well as the symmetrical composition are meant to denote balance, being grounded and stability. The butterfly drips black to symbolize a fear or hinderance of flight, possibly because of a fear of success.
