Tokyo Dinosaur Expo 2011 Special figures
My first Tokyo Dinosaur Expo figures! So, I just got my 2011 Dinosaur Expo figures. This would be the first Expo exclusive figures in my collection. Are they expensive and worth it? Yes and no. The figures are expensive, roughly $13 each (there are 6 total, not including a second skeleton) when you break it down, and this includes the shipping. Worth it- Yes, if you consider that they are exclusive limited edition, and that they are not readily available for purchase. Supply dictates their value in $ terms collectors wanting them. Worth it – No, besides the archinormis and feathered T-rex, nothing is really new in this group. They consist of the same standard tried and true species, nothing too exciting… really. So, here they are the six figures from the 2011 Dinosaur Expo **Spinosaurus** – cool looking figure. It is the biggest in the set. The fish, a coelacanth, is attached to its mouth, no options for fishless look on this one. **Triceratops** – nothing exciting about this guy, just your standard trike figure. **Stegosaur** – the only cool thing about this figure is that it has throat armor! You don’t see many figures with it. **Allosaur **– looking very much like the Fame Master 3D puzzle. Not too fond of this one. **T-rex** – Now, this at least has a twist… it’s feathered! I call it buffalo-Rex, it reminds me of a buffalo shedding its outer coat. It’s a very interesting design, and I think it is the only toy figure currently out that has feathers. So, this unique trait makes it one of the most exciting figures in this collection, and one of my favorite. **Anchiornis Huxleyi** – Roadrunner? It’s a neat little guy, and the only new species in the collection as far as what has been offered before. This make this figures the jewel of group in my book. **T-rex skeleton **– Like the fleshed out version, this skeleton has a nice twist. Instead of the standard upright pose that we typically see in biped skeletons, this on is in a seating pose! Yes, very original I think. I’m not a big fan of skeleton, but this one I really like. It’s refreshing to see something imaginative and unique for a change. There is also a different color version of it, which I believe is the special (ya all know they love to have special version). If you get the set with it, then it will jump up the price a lot more. I opted out since I don’t need a second one. So there you have it, the 2011 Dinosaur Expo figures from Japan!
