This is a wee (6 inches wide, 3 3/4 inches tall w/o handles) evening purse. It is black silk with silk floral embroidery of chrysanthemums - the same pattern is on both sides. Has a sliver of bone to anchor it closed. One half of the interior is a mirror. This was a purse my mother wore during her engagement to my father in the early-to-mid 1960s. Like almost all of my mother's purses, it is empty except for 2 pennies (1967 and 1968) and a fresh tissue.
