Seven Year Old Fan Finds Topps Golden Draft Ticket

First things first: before I get to the post at hand, I just want to say that even though the Chargers walloped the Chiefs last night, the final score reveals something important about my skills of prognostication—namely, that they are awesome. I wrote yesterday that the game would end in a tie. Instead, the Chargers beat the Chiefs 31 to 13. I just had the numbers transposed! My crystal ball was a little cloudy, that’s all. You’re welcome, America.

But enough about my fraudulent claims of superior mental abilities. According to the Northwest Herald newspaper, a seven-year-old fan from Wonder Lake, Illinois, named Seth Kuhn found something in a pack of Topps Football cards that’ll probably make him a collector for life. After tearing through a box of the cards his grandmother had given them, Seth found one of ten Golden Draft Tickets, which award each finder with an autographed football signed by the Indianapolis Colts’ Andrew Luck, or the Washington Redskins’ Robert Griffin III, or RG3 as he’s known among football fans.

Not only that, but one of the Golden Ticket winners will be featured on a 2013 Topps football card—which would be quite the achievement for a seven year old fan.

Said Seth of his rare find:

“This is my most prized possession. I hope I get the RG3 signed football, and to have a card of myself would be amazing.”

How great is that? Apparently, the Golden Tickets are selling for around $1,500 at online auctions. But wouldn’t that be lame if you bought one that way, and denied this kid his chance for football card immortality? Don’t do it, America. My mental powers will zap you.
