The first set of presidential Pez dispensers is out now.
The makers of Pez candy have a sweet deal for political collectors.
As part of its educational series, Pez is producing sets of dispensers with the heads of presidents on them. The first set is out now, featuring George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe – our first five presidents. These presidents date from 1789 to 1825.
The five dispensers and one pack of Pez candies is available online for $12.95, although they are sold out right now from Pez itself. They can be bought online from other sources for that price or slightly higher.
The plan, according to Pez, is to bring out two new sets each November through at least 2015, with the first set out now
If you crave a particular candidate, you might have to wait a few years until that one comes out. However the question historians and collectors will be curious to see is what happens when the set reaches presidents 22 and 24. Grover Cleveland was the only president to serve non-consecutive terms. Will Pez include two Clevelands in the same set? It will be interesting to see.
