SDCC News : Hot Toys & the Jack Nicholson Joker

Comic geeks have made no secret about their lust for screen-accurate action figured from 1989′s Batman, starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson, but the rights to produce anything from the film have been notoriously hard to manage. When Hot Toys announced their Christopher Reeve Superman figure earlier this year, the classic-DC-movie-gates seemed to be opening up.

Popping up at Hot Toys’ booth this year is a stunning Joker figure based on Jack Nicholson’s incomparable portrayal, measuring in at 12″ tall and with a variety of extra accessories, clothing and hands. I’m generally not someone to collect movie-based figures, but Hot Toys is almost always the exception, having created amazing figures from Hellboy and Iron Man which have already snuck into my collection.

Joker is displayed alongside a gigantic 1:6th scale 1989 Batmobile which can actually fit a 12″ tall figure comfortably – and it wouldn’t make any sense to create a Batmobile only meant for Joker to ride in. Will we see a Michael Keaton Batman reveal in a few days?

The only announcement that could be any Bat-better would be the appearance of an Adam West Batman figure. For now, bask in the brain-twisting awesomeness of the current object of everyone’s long-maintained desires : Jack Joker.
