I have a 1953 The Red Shoes Paint By Number on a roll up canvas shade material in good condition. Maybe needs a cleaning. Can anybody give me an idea how much it would be worth? Thanks, Karen

Hello Mike,

I did mention the Donofrio brothers but this article is an overview of an area and I was not able to mention everyone associated with pbn, let alone as in depth as some may like. The point of this article/post was to provide some basic information and context for collectors -- and to give pbns the respect I feel they deserve. The post is not intended to be a replacement for any book or other complete resource, but to whet the appetite.

I'm guessing from your name that you are related to Tony Donofrio? If so, I'd be happy to discuss with you a follow-up post, more focused on Tony's involvement in pbn. :)

Just contact me if you're interested!
Deanna

PS As for anyone looking for ways to identify paint by numbers, please click the links in the article; those resources ought to help you. You can also display your pbns in the Collectors' Quest community where other community members could provide more information.

Hi Laura, I don't, but there's a lot to search for on the internet! One thing to keep in mind is that even if the paint colors are the same, they will look at least slightly different as the dried paint has aged. Good luck -- and pls share what you find with us!

Karen,

Have you tried online stores? Often you can find the manufacturer online, and they have a larger inventory of all their designs. And any store should be able to special order for you if you have the model/stock number from the manufacturer.

My great grandmother was an early consumer of the paint by numbers. She LOVED them. We still have some of her favorite finished projects hanging on our walls even though she passed away in the 1970s. I honestly don't know when she painted them but they certainly date back to my mother's childhood.
