I love the song Ode To Billy Joe, but I had no idea there was a book too. Which came first? I did see a film based on the song, which wasn’t very good. Such is the power of suggestion that I am going to look for that book on Amazon as soon as I have posted this comment.

The Super-Jet Girls and If It Moves Kiss It were obviously written by men who wished that women really behaved like that. I love the early 70s style covers though – rather like my copy of Coffee Tea Or Me.

Was there really an author called Gay Head? As for how t be popular with boys, rule #1 is: don’t wear a knee length dress that looks like an old potato sack!

Interesting post. I love old books. I'm featuring writing tips from Anne LaMott's Bird By Bird, which isn't all that old, but is a classic. http://otherworlddiner.blogspot.com

#6 - I am confused, did you marry Betty Cornell or a 'boy?' HA. #12 - I was also unaware that there was a book about that 'haunting' song! Will have to seek it out. In my not-so-spare time.
