Happy TT!

Thank you for that very interesting TT. It seems that collecting ephemera has not yet become a business for people who care little for what they collect, but only for what they can get for it (like stamp and coin collecting, for example). I hope it stays that way.

Interesting... it's a bit confusing, though, isn't it? That value is what we assign to it and it might actually be worthless, but it's worth something so long as it appeals to you.

I guess we find out its monetary worth when it appeals to someone else. Hmm.

I love that you do something that is such a passion. In this weird world, where people talk about being depressed, I can't imagine being depressed and passionate at the same time. Good for you for making the most of your life!

I recall handling an estate sale for the mom of a friend. The attic had not been entered in almost 20 years, tons of old stuff! When digging, we were told we could just 'toss the old papers', but we declined and insisted that they keep anything to do with family matters. There were receipts, photos, documents, you name it! They were handed box after box of this ephemera. We sadly learned that much of it did end up being tossed! I would love to have that much history on my family but, alas, have very little indeed. I hope I have left this 'saving gene' in my children! What a great article and interview.

I'd like to start collecting Louvain Bibles... or Geneva Bibles... and I would agree, your grandfather's scroll is worth more in many sense than many things you could own... when a piece has not only historical but sentimental value, that's a great thing.
