What an impressive article! I had never heard of an 'art burn' before and like you, it is so hard to part with anything, and I mean anything! But for those artists, it seemed to be the right thing to do. I noticed your mention of Jon Offutt and am proud to say I own a gorgeous piece of glass from him. He is so talented! It was a gift (lucky me) and one that gets 'rave reviews.' Hope I never hear of his work ending up this way. A very well-written, thought-provoking article! Good job!
