We've even made our booksales FREE after a week or so just to make room... and still, too many to keep! Also within our middle school we ran book sales. You could get a book for a couple dollars and all the money went to the library. Now I know that this would never generate enough for proper funding for expansion of libraries, but it was a little something and we were able to do some nice things within our library with the money. Otherwise, as you've said, there are plenty of creative uses for books!
